Almost a year to the day since D submitted his job application for a position in New Zealand, we are boarding a plane to Christchurch.
It's been a busy couple of days, squeezing everything into suitcases, checking and rechecking that we have everything packed, running our last few chores in Germany and saying goodbye to friends and family. And we can't quite believe that the day is finally here... but it is, and I'm writing this with our bags stacked against the wall of our living room, ready to go, reminding me that yes, we are about to board a one-way flight to the other side of the world.
We've been back to the UK a few times this month to see our families and say some pretty emotional goodbyes. I'm not gonna lie.. I cried at every single one. But we're ready for the next chapter in our lives, and a new adventure. However hard it is to say goodbye, we've got to keep looking forward and make the most of this amazing opportunity. It definitely helps that we are moving to one of the most beautiful countries I've ever been to. It's hard to feel sad when surrounded by mountains and sea.
The next two days will be taken over by travel, and then as soon as we land the house hunt and car shopping and work will begin.
Maybe I'll just have one last mug of Yorkshire Tea before we go..!
